How the Hair Growth Cycle Affects Laser Treatments

Timing Laser Hair Treatments with the Hair Growth Cycle

If you’ve read anything about laser hair removal so far, you are probably somewhat aware of the process. If you’re new to the permanent hair removal game, then finding out the facts will have you well on your way. Treatments are done in a series spread out over time, targeting new hair follicles with each appointment. The hair growth cycle is important, as treatments will take place at a specific stage in the cycle, which is broken into three stages.

The first stage of hair growth is called the Anagen phase. It probably seems obvious that this is the stage in which your hair does the most of its growing. The majority of your hair will always be in the Anagen phase, as well. Your blood is providing minerals and nutrients which stimulate hair growth, and the more nutrients you have, the faster your hair will grow.

The second stage in hair growth is called the Catagen phase. During this phase, your hair stops growing and simply rests. Hair detaches itself from the follicle, so it is no longer receiving nutrients from the blood—thus it will no longer grow. This stage only lasts two to four weeks, and accounts for a significantly less amount of hair on your body, roughly 3%.

The final phase hair goes through is called the Telogen phase. The hair beneath the follicle you see is pushed out by a new follicle beneath, causing the top hair follicles to fall out. The average person will lose approximately 100 hairs each day. This phase lasts a duration of about three months.

Since all of your hair will be growing and settling at different stages of the cycle, it is impossible for laser treatments to successfully be complete at once. Some of your hair will have to be in the Telogen phase, and new hair that is already on it’s way will need to be treated. Sessions are typically spread out with 4-8 weeks between each visit, allowing you to take care of all of the hair at various stages of growth.

Reducing Hair Density with Laser Hair Removal

by Laser Hair Removal NYC on April 28, 2010

Minimizing Body Hair Density with Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is quickly becoming one of the more sought out procedures for having comfortable and sexy skin. The permanent results are quite favorable over other hair removal methods, and require much less time and effort. While you’re probably aware of most of the benefits of laser treatments, you might not know exactly how personalized your results can be.

If you’re getting tired of the frequent upkeep of shaving and the daunting task of waxing, then laser sessions are probably something you would really benefit from. There is no clean up afterwards, and no extra money spent on supplies every time you need a trim or shave. Laser hair removal doesn’t need to mean having completely smooth skin, either. While some may be seeking exactly that, many choose to simply have less hair rather than having none at all.

Candidates who would benefit from simply minimizing the density of their hair can achieve this by less frequent sessions. It may not take many for you to see the results you’re looking for, which would be an extremely simple solution. Men who would like to have some hair left on their face, chest, or back are a great example of those who just want to thin the hair out. Each appointment will obviously increase the amount of hair removed, so try to gauge what would be a comfortable amount for you.

Having your hair permanently reduced to a lighter density would not only save on time and money, but can also help those with sensitive skin. Product after product can have harsh effects even on normal healthy skin types, which can make the process even more of a hassle.

Thinning out your excess or unwanted hair is something any facility will be experienced with. Anyone looking for a similar procedure should discuss their desired results with a professionally trained technician, who will be able to help determine exactly how to achieve your desired results. Smooth skin isn’t for everyone, and permanently taking care of the hair you’d rather not see will have saving effort and money in no time.
